Vehicle Inspection Requirements
The State of Wisconsin’s Emissions Test is a mandatory requirement for most gas and diesel vehicles registered in eligible counties before the registration renewal. All vehicle owners, except the ones in the exemption category, must do the vehicle emission and smog test biennially for select counties. Vehicles that fail the emissions test must get repaired and retested at a state-approved location and by authorized personnel only.
