What’s New for the 2021 Porsche Taycan?
When the 2020 Porsche Taycan debuted, it brought together all of the luxury and premium engineering drivers equate with the Porsche name. At the same time, it presented these features in an all-electric sedan with the stunning sleekness of sports car styling. While the 2020 Taycan immediately made an excellent name for itself, Porsche did not refrain from refining it in the 2021 model year. The improvements begin with the introduction of the Base trim level. This is followed by the trims that carry up from the 2020 version. These trims are the 4S, the Turbo, and the Turbo S. Both the 4S and the new Base trim levels have the same battery pack, and the base trim level comes with a two-speed transmission rear-wheel drive and a single-motor powertrain that generates 321 horsepower. The other three powertrains continue to have all-wheel drive and a second motor.
Some of the improvements to the 2021 Taycan are available only at the higher trim levels. For example, you can add an automatic lift to the body and a heads-up display to select trim levels. The Taycan Cross Turismo is a new option for 2021, and its power and agility are stunning. The interior and exterior styles of the 2021 Taycan are unchanged. This is a four-door sedan with a swooping, well-defined hood and powerful swells over the front-wheel fenders. While many Porsche models today have triangular headlights, the Taycan’s headlights have a quad-point, rectangular design. Some of the Taycan’s many standard features are wireless Apple CarPlay, heated seats, a navigation system, remote monitoring, ambient lighting, a curved instrument panel, parking sensors for the front and rear, and more.

To achieve the stated charging time for corresponding state of charge range, the following is required: a CCS DC fast charging station with > 270kW and > 850V and a battery temperature range of 86°-95°F. For physical and chemical reasons, the charging speed decreases as the battery approaches its full capacity. Charging speeds over 80% state of charge are significantly slower and not recommended for daily use. For regular fast DC charging usage, we recommend charging at 50kW stations.
